Becky started making Anahola Granola in the mid-1970s while working as a janitor on a remote island in Washington's SAN Juan islands. In the fire on her old boat, the cabin, she made the first delicious granola. Five years later, she set up a gardening therapy garden for the disabled. They grow organic vegetables on the Banks of the Snohomish River and sell their produce to nearby restaurants. In 1981, the winds of change blew Becky thousands of miles west to a sunnier island. As soon as she landed on Kauai, she knew she had found her home. In 1986, Becky was a single mother raising a two-year-old daughter.
