CCM Certification began in June 1990 with a case management conference and a survey to determine interest and attitudes toward certification. As a result of this investigation, a case management country team met in Dallas on 27 June 1991. The minutes refer to the establishment of a steering committee comprising 30 professionals representing 29 healthcare industry stakeholders. The organisers envisage an entry level certificate to demonstrate basic education, experience and ability, backed up by examinations.
