Crystal Hot Springs past goes beyond beyond recorded history. Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology at Utah State University, Dr. Steve Simms, has conducted a lot of fieldwork there. Their two 365-foot hydro-tube water slides run on selected days throughout the year (see slide hours). The hot spring, which has a temperature of roughly 135°F, is heated by the water from the slide flowing through copper tubing buried in it. This enables them to keep it warm all winter long, even when the weather is chilly. They relocated both of their slides from Willard Bay, where they had been installed as a tourist attraction. Water skiing quickly became popular after the development of the slides, which caused their waning appeal. These slides were purchased by Crystal Hot Springs in the 1980s, and they have been operating ever since. The water in all of their mineral pools is constantly flowing through them, keeping everything fresh. There are individual pipes bringing hot and cold spring water into each pool.
