Daytona State College Bookstore has grown from a small campus to a multi-campus institution with academic excellence, providing education and cultural programs for citizens of Volusia and Flagler Counties. It started in 1957 when the Florida Legislature authorized Daytona Beach Junior College to become one of the first comprehensive colleges in the state. The college is divided into three departments: college credits, adult education and Mary Carr Vocational School. Although these three departments are managed by a principal, they basically operate as independent entities under the Volucia County school system. Today, Daytona State University offers more than 100 certificate, associate degree, and bachelor's degree programs, and graduates serve key areas, including healthcare, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology, etc. The college also offers an Associate Degree for Transfer from the University of the Arts to provide students with the first two years of a four-year bachelor's degree, saving their students and their families thousands of dollars in the process.
