Sardinian-born Pietro Addis originally launched Donatello a restaurant in 1987 and it was a success from the start. Proving that his policy of using quality ingredients to provide affordable meals and cooking everything in-house was the right thing to do and therefore still holds true today. He introduced a "new concept" of 2 course and 3 course set menus in Brighton, which most restaurants now offer and which has proven to be a hit with restaurants and the city as a whole especially in the warmer days and months. Donatello opened in 1991 and grew from its original 100-seat restaurant to over 300 seats by acquiring several buildings around it. It's open 24 hours and the cleaners and cooks work all night to get it ready for the next day! They believe that supporting the community is an integral part of the business and have sponsored Brighton & Hove Albion FC and local arts and charities for many years. They have catered to many celebrities and Brightonians over the years.
