For over fifty years, Hanging Loose Press has been dedicated to supporting authors who are marginalized by mainstream publishing due to factors such as gender, race, age, class, or socioeconomic status. The press remains committed to broadening its creative and cultural scope through various initiatives. Each issue of their magazine features a section curated by a different guest editor—distinguished writers given the freedom to select and showcase the work of exciting and often overlooked writers. In collaboration with Queens College, CUNY, Hanging Loose Press offers the annual Loose Translation Prize.
