The name of Herbert Woods is synonymous with the Broads and Porter Hayhams of Norfolk. Shipyard began in 1929 when Herbert was a young man who took over the family shipbuilding company Walter Woods and his sons. Then he started an ambitious plan to expand Broad's small fleet, hire cruisers, and build shipbuilding and mooring facilities in "Broadb", which is the dock you see now. The growing strength of store quickly became one of the most loved shipyards in the Broads. After Herbert's death in 1954, Herbert Woods was acquired by private investors and has since changed hands several times, operating under various names, including Pennant Holidays, Funnel Group (Chimney Group) and Norfolk Broads Direct. In 2010, store was acquired by the current owner, and it was decided to restore the original brand to all ships.
