Designed by architects Jeffrey Hallett and Don Bailey, Perth Concert Hall is the first concert hall built in Australia after World War II. It was built and completed by Sabomo, and its gate was opened to the public on the Australian Day in 1973. A classic example of the “postleist” classical architecture of the mid-19th century, its external feature is the innovative use of white irregular concrete. Centered on a winding staircase, the interior is striking red carpet. The auditorium can accommodate 1729 people and accommodates 3000 organ. It was considered a completely innovative building at the time and was recognized in the 2016 Australian Institute of Architects National Awards. In recent years, Perth Concert Hall has undergone improvements, including major upgrades to auditorium lighting systems and facade lighting.
