She guessed you would say her childhood was a little unusual. As a child of two roasters, she grew up surrounded by coffee bags and coffee beans. In the late 1980s, her parents started roasting coffee, and they were at the forefront of the second wave of handmade coffee. She insisted on "no coffee" and instead became a graphic designer. But while working in London, she was inspired by the work of baking companies like Monmouth and Square Mile, as well as the third wave of coffee that is emerging. Her parents sold Roastworks, and she was tired of London, so she and her husband moved back to Devon, bought a small baking machine, and set up a manual baking workshop based on the principles of the third wave.
