Yoshitaka Amano is a Japanese artist who also works as an illustrator, character designer, scenic designer, and costume designer for theater and film. Working on the anime adaptation of Speed Racer, he became famous for the first time at the end of the 1960s. Gatchaman, Tekkaman, and other well-known and influential characters were later created by Amano: Casshan, Hutch the Honeybee, and the Space Knight. Yoshitaka Amano went into business on his own and became a freelance artist in 1982. He worked as an illustrator for many authors and worked on best-selling novel series like The Guin Saga and Vampire Hunter D. He is also known for the illustrations he did for the popular Final Fantasy video game franchise.
